Live broadcast Steadicam technique for high-risk running shots with wireless video assist
13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- A live-to-air Steadicam shot through hallways and doorways was executed with only one camera and no backup angle or contingency plan
- The operator used an Artemis sled paired with a Sony P1 camera and Canon J14 lens
- A Boxx Meridian wireless system provided video transmission, data control, return vision, and prompting capability
- A G70 arm allowed real-time trim adjustments during the live broadcast depending on shot requirements
- The shot was rehearsed twice during dress rehearsal but executed live without additional preparation
- Standby cabled handheld cameras were available but disconnected once the live broadcast began
Depends on
- The discussion contains speculation about rig details before the operator provided confirmation
- Video resolution was too low for detailed analysis of equipment shadows
- No information provided about the specific setup choices or why certain backup procedures were avoided
