ARRI Trinity 2: handling preference between Yoke and MasterGrip for non-tilt shots, and monitor holder edge interference
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found
- Several operators prefer gripping the Yoke on the ARRI Trinity 2 when tilt control is not needed, citing that the T2 handle can feel slippery during certain movements.
- The sharp edge of the monitor holder interferes with hand position and comfort when using the MasterGrip.
- The clamps on the MasterGrip handle can bend; mounting them rotated 180 degrees is reported to provide better grip stability.
- The clamping grip changes wrist posture and arm guidance compared to traditional analog focus/zoom grips used in live television production.
- An operating system upgrade featuring a zoom unit directly on the gimbal handle appears more attractive than the T2 grip, as it requires fewer function buttons.
- One operator reports success using the ARRI Trinity 1 Joystick connected at the T2 socket while holding the Yoke for shots without Dutch or 360-degree roll, combining analog tilt control with classical gimbal handling.
Depends on
- Personal ergonomic preference and individual hand size.
- Shot requirements (presence or absence of tilt, roll, or low-mode operation).
- Operator experience level and muscle memory with each control method.
