Flyer monitor mirror function not working when camera operates upside-down in low-mode
20 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- When operating a camera upside-down on a Steadicam rig, the Flyer monitor image inversion menu setting alone does not flip the image horizontally, causing left and right to be reversed during operation.
- First generation Flyer monitors lack functional mirror capability due to cost-reduction design decisions that removed a secondary input from the hardware.
- Workarounds include physically flipping the monitor upside-down or sending the monitor to the manufacturer for a hardware upgrade that restores mirror functionality.
- Later generation Flyer monitors include working mirror capability built in.
Depends on
- This issue specifically applies to first generation Flyer monitors paired with cameras inverted in low-mode configuration.
- Physical monitor inversion workaround does not function with all camera rig setups.
- The original manual provided no clear explanation of the mirror function or its limitations.
