Protecting an ARRI Artemis Trinity sled from rain during operation
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found
- The simplest approach is to position a large umbrella (XL size) over the rig during shooting.
- Some operators protect only the camera with a rain hood, leaving tilt and pan motors exposed; whether this practice adequately protects the motor electronics remains unresolved.
- One operator demonstrated complete wrapping of the entire rig, including deactivating the joystick, and reported that all components remained dry and functional afterward.
- Full rain protection packaging can obstruct Javelin and Low Mode operating positions.
- Several operators reported uncertainty about rain protection best practices for the Trinity and requested more documented examples.
Depends on
- Degree of moisture exposure depends on rain intensity and wind direction
- Choice between camera-only and full-rig protection involves trade-off between motor safety and operational mobility
