Maintaining horizon level on a Steadicam rig with studio camera cables attached
What the thread found
- Dynamic balance should be achieved first without cables connected, then cables should be added afterwards without adjusting the rig base
- After adding cables, rebalancing should be done only through topstage and gimbal adjustments, leaving the rig base unchanged
- Horizon drift during panning is typically caused by base offset rather than dynamic balance issues
- Dynamic balance primarily affects the tilt axis during panning movements
Depends on
- Applies specifically to setups using SMPTE cables for studio camera operations
- The horizon leveling problem described may stem from different causes than dynamic balance
- The response was provided while the questioner was on set with limited time for detailed explanation
