Mounting a BFD M1 follow focus motor to a Masters sled
17 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- An XCS plate provides a more rigid mounting solution than rods attached directly to the dovetail and offers easier rod mounting points
- A kit of offset adapters (dogbones) and various rod lengths allows flexible positioning of the M1 motor for different lens configurations
- A combination of a dogbone with mismatched sizes (such as 19mm to 15mm) plus reducers and spare rod segments enables mounting the M1 in unconventional locations
- XCS plates are compatible with Masters sled dovetails
Depends on
- One participant was uncertain about XCS plate compatibility with Masters dovetails until confirmation arrived
- The discussion mentions Panavision-specific reducer sizes, suggesting solutions may need adaptation for other camera mounts
