Viewing the monitor correctly when operating a camera in low mode with the rig inverted
14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- When the camera is mounted upside down in low mode, the monitor mounted in its normal position will also be upside down, which cancels out the inversion and displays a correct right-side-up image to frame by.
- Some monitor models have a built-in image invert function in the menu that can be used to correct the display when needed.
- The monitor should be tilted or flattened toward the post to improve visibility rather than repositioned to the top of the mounting arm.
- Keeping the monitor positioned below the horizon line during low mode operation reduces the risk of the operator looking up to focus, improving safety.
Depends on
- The simple inversion principle applies when the camera remains mounted to the stage in its normal position during low mode operation.
- Different rig models may have variations in how they handle this situation.
- The monitor invert feature availability depends on the specific monitor model being used.
