How torso-to-leg proportions affect socket block positioning and arm post selection

13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • People with longer torsos relative to their leg length may need socket blocks positioned higher on the spar and longer arm posts even at standard heights
  • Asymmetrical leg length can cause hip misalignment that affects arm-socket block threading and requires adjustments when swapping gear
  • Body proportions can be assessed by dividing total height in half and comparing it to the measurement from the hip's widest point to the floor—these should be roughly equal

Depends on

  • The observation is based on personal experience with a limited group and lacks systematic measurement
  • The actual operational impact of these proportional differences remains unclear
  • Long arm posts and socket block positioning may have other causes beyond torso proportion
