Comparison of PRO-GPI Atlas and Sachtler Artemis camera support arms for different payload capacities

14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found

  • The Atlas arm is designed for camera packages under forty-five pounds and delivers smooth operation under load with excellent boom range
  • The Atlas arm was chosen as a lighter alternative to supplement rather than replace an older Artemis arm that had proven reliable over eleven years of use
  • When weight-sensitive applications grew to require more capacity, the Atlas was later traded in for a Titan arm that could handle heavier loads like Alexa cameras with Cooke lenses and additional support gear
  • Sachtler Artemis springs should be changed every three to four years as preventive maintenance to maintain reliability

Depends on

  • Discussion centered on one operator's specific workflow and payload choices
  • Atlas weight compared to Titan was mentioned as unverified hearsay without published specifications
  • The upgrade from Atlas to Titan was driven by changing project requirements, not arm performance issues
  • Timeline spans approximately two years, so technology and product availability may have changed
