User experiences with the Sachtler Artemis gimbal under professional conditions

21 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found

  • The Artemis gimbal maintained smooth bearing operation and showed no degradation after three years of regular professional use with heavy cameras including 35mm film models.
  • The gimbal is designed for 1.5 inch posts but has the thickness tolerance of a 2 inch post, eliminating the need for additional spacer layers.
  • The square-shaped handle requires an adjustment period for operators but becomes comfortable with practice.
  • Maintenance on the Artemis gimbal is straightforward.
  • The gimbal can be operated with either a tool-free clamp or a traditional 4mm lock screw.
  • The Artemis Cine-HD gimbal performed reliably when used with heavy cinema cameras including 535, BL4, and BL4 Evolution models.

Depends on

  • Reports are limited to two users with experience spanning approximately three years.
  • The praise is anecdotal and not based on comparative testing against competing products.
  • The square handle design is subjective and requires individual adaptation.
