Methods for safely hanging a Steadicam arm on a C-stand
What the thread found
- Hanging the arm through the O-ring around the aircraft pin can cause the pin to bend if the arm falls, so alternative attachment methods are preferable.
- A webbing loop can be attached around the aircraft pin as part of standard arm configuration for hanging.
- A loop can be threaded through the bottom circle of the docking bracket assembly for hanging the arm.
- Using a padded lens wrap or foam pipe insulation around the stand contact points prevents damage to the arm and sled from repeated docking motions.
- Braiding tie line through the gap in the socket block assembly creates a dedicated hanging point that stays out of the way during operation.
Depends on
- The webbing loop solution is noted as a standard feature on Zephyr arms specifically.
- Padding solutions are workarounds to protect equipment during frequent docking and undocking rather than replacements for proper hanging systems.
