Zephyr gimbal handle loosening due to payload exceeding capacity
What the thread found
- Operating a Zephyr gimbal beyond its 24-pound maximum payload capacity can cause the handle mounting screw to loosen and separate from the gimbal body.
- The handle attaches to the gimbal yoke via a 3/32 standard hex screw that can be retightened using a standard hex wrench.
- Exceeding the recommended payload weight may lead to mechanical stress that gradually loosens fasteners on the gimbal system.
- Tightening the handle attachment screw can restore the handle position closer to the gimbal yoke after it has shifted outward.
Depends on
- The user was operating near or exceeding the weight limit with a configuration including a cinema camera, lenses, matte box with filters, wireless follow focus, and wireless transmitter.
- It remains unclear whether the loosening would occur during normal operation within the 24-pound limit or only when exceeded.
- The discussion does not confirm whether similar issues occur with other gimbal models or if this is specific to the Zephyr.
