Pairing lightweight arms (Flyer, A-15, A-30, Zephyr) with heavy, rigid vests (Ultra, PRO, Exo) to reduce physical fatigue.

What the thread found

  • Larger vests are stiffer and generally more comfortable; lightweight vests often lack cross-back straps and can flex under load, creating pressure points.
  • A heavy vest adds its own weight to the operator and does little to reduce physical strain on the same muscle groups, unless switching to a different concept such as Exo or back-mount configuration.
  • The Zephyr vest pairs well with Zephyr and A-30 rigs and is markedly superior to the Flyer vest, particularly with heavier camera packages.
  • A large vest combined with a small arm is suitable for extended one-shot music videos carrying a light camera.

Depends on

  • Benefit depends on camera weight and rig configuration.
  • Exo and back-mount systems operate on different load-distribution principles.
