Stabilizer rig choice in the €3,000–6,000 range for ARRI ALEXA Mini with anamorphic lenses on larger productions after entry-level equipment.
What the thread found
- For an upgraded Mini carrying large-format anamorphic lenses, an Archer 1 or 2 is recommended; entry-level rigs reach their payload limit and arm length becomes insufficient.
- One operator reported that an Aero 30 or Zephyr can carry a Mini with light cinema lenses (Super Speeds, CNE, Sumire) and a lightweight focus system such as ARRI cForce, but low-mode operation is difficult due to the sled's slender post.
- Even with two V-Mount batteries mounted via Hot-Swap adapter on an Aero 30, the arm proved too short for an ALEXA XT equipped with anamorphic optics.
- Several operators recommend purchasing a larger used system instead to future-proof the investment; used Zephyr-class rigs were priced around €4,000 at the time of discussion.
- Outside the United States, used stabilizer systems are difficult to find and international shipping costs are substantial.
Depends on
- Payload headroom depends on camera body, lens package weight, and auxiliary electronics (focus motor, remote).
- Low-mode feasibility depends on post diameter and arm geometry.
- Used-equipment availability and pricing vary by region.
