Wireless solutions for broadcast-quality fiber-based camera systems in studio environments
16 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- Gigawave offers wireless video and control signal transmission for Sony HDC cameras, with separate units for each signal type powered by V-Lock batteries, and can integrate with existing shader controls through a custom control panel.
- SkyDreams AirPaint provides wireless camera control and telemetry that works with standard Sony remote control panels and is compatible with Sony HDC camera control ports.
- Vislink Link 1500 systems are used in major broadcast productions and sports events, offering reliable wireless transmission when properly engineered, though they are expensive.
- Wireless solutions designed for broadcast camera control typically cost significantly more than the camera equipment itself.
- In studio environments with limited range requirements, avoiding video and audio delay in multicamera setups and minimizing wireless interference are key concerns.
- Custom fiber jumpers for camera control systems can be built at approximately six hundred dollars.
Depends on
- Gigawave's control panel may disable some standard Sony camera features as a third-party replacement.
- The discussion focuses on a specific four-thousand-seven-hundred square foot studio environment, which may not represent other production setups.
- Vislink Link 1500 pricing and specific technical compatibility details were not disclosed in the thread.
- No definitive comparison or testing results between the different wireless systems were provided.
